by Evelyn and Ike Ikrath

Jan 2015

Evelyn attends Hospitality Management School, while Ike studies Architecture. Then they both spend some years around the world. When they meet, Evelyn is an hotelier and Ike an avant-gardist. A great love is born, and little Casimir. Evelyn and Ike love urban spirit, authenticity, exchanging ideas, conquering heights, yoga, organic food, AVEDA Spa and design hospitality with an indispensable breath-taking view. Their hotels – Haus Hirt, Hotel Miramonte and Alpenlofts – are like private houses, modern drawing rooms. In a few words, "Inspiring places for creative minds"They are also co-deviser of many events in Bad Gastein, such as art, music and cinema festivals.

If you could close your eyes and be somewhere else, where would you want to be?

In a kind of ‘nature-balanced land’, sitting outside at a wooden table amid flowers and green grass, a blue sky above you with some clouds to make it interesting. The mountains behind evoke the spirit of adventure. The sea opposite, a beach with big smooth stones. A cool wooden house with a wonderful smell, where a veranda and a full glass front give shelter. A glass-fronted fireplace and an unlimited view, family and peace all around… We partially tried to create this in Bad Gastein with our Alpenlofts.

The restaurant where you feel at home.

Poser Alm up here, Skopic & Lohn in Wien, Kelley & Ping in New York, La Coupole in Paris and some more.

A hotel room that makes you nostalgic.

The Penguin South Beach Hotel in Miami, Hotel Raya in Panarea, the Alila Ubud in Bali, Hotel Briol and the Bad Dreikirchen in South Tyrol.

If a kid asked you to take him/her on a trip, where would that be?

First, on the peaks here, spending the night in an alpine hut at 2500 metres altitude and waking up at sunrise to admire the valleys. Then, on a sailing trip to Greece.

If you could choose a dream place to celebrate what would that be?

Villa Deciani.

A view you will never forget.

When I came back to the Gastein valley after 22 years – the snow-covered peaks, the sunny green valley and the unlimited view from the Dolomites to Dachstein – it felt like my heart and soul had been lifted and were now flying.

Your Meraviglia address that can’t be missing from our collection.
