In my city, Milan, rice pudding and cappuccino at Pasticceria Marchesi on Corso Magenta. Away from home, Les Fermes de Marie for freshly baked bread and cakes ad-lib, and King’s Highway at Ace Hotel in Palm Springs: yoghurt, fruit and granola, sitting on a burgundy sofa in this faultless American diner with the best music playing in the background.

The Sunday lunch

Sitting at one of the wooden tables of Pensiun Chesa Pool’s terrace in Val Fex, Engadin. Mountain flowers, a sun-drenched valley and a plate of potatoes and beetroot tortelli filled with blue cheese and tossed in brown butter and herbs sauce, pear bread and rhubarb crumble.
